Review: Marvel Legends Spiderman – Hallow’s Eve

Spider-Man has encountered many types of villains. Some are scientists gone bad/mad, some are tech-based criminals, and some are people bonded with an alien goo monster. Some are clones, and others are supernatural in origin. One of his newest villains is a woman called Hallow’s Eve, and she got her first figure in Marvel Legends.

Elizabeth Tyne is the girlfriend of Ben Reilly, a clone of Peter Parker who sometimes went by the Scarlet Spider. Their relationship was complicated by the fact Elizabeth was wanted for the murder of her father and the fact another Spider-clone named Kaine was hunting Ben. After being manipulated by Kaine and faking her death (twice!), Elizabeth turned herself in to the police. She was later recruited by the Beyond Corporation to control Ben Reilly. They eventually escaped together and, with Ben being mutated in Chasm, then made a deal with Madelyn Prior, the Queen of Limbo. Elizabeth became Hallow’s Eve, with the power to assume the form of any monster with a mask.

Hallow’s Eve is a human female with pale, white skin and orange hair, She is wearing a domino mask and an orange hood on her head. She is wearing a back body suit with orange arms and legs and some purple around her shoulders. She also has a scarf around her neck with two stylized jack-o-lanterns on the front.

The mask gives her the powers of those monsters.

For articulation, her head is on a ball joint. She can turn her head side to side, move up and down a bit and tilt side to side. Her arms are hinged at the shoulders, with a bicep swivel, pinless double elbows, rotation at the hands and hinged hands. She has a diaphragm joint mid-torso that allows her to move left and right, crunch forwards and back and to the sides. Her legs are on a T-bar joint, with a thigh swivel, double knees (again, pinless) and hinged ankles.

Devil!

For accessories, Eve comes with three sets of hands. She has a set of gripping hands, a set of fists and a set of open hands. She has a purple pouch that fits on the figure. She also has two masks: one of a vampire and one of a devil. They fit over her face but do not stay on well.

Next to Maddie, a.k.a the Goblin Queen

Hallow’s Eve is a new character that I don’t know much about, but she makes for a striking figure. Her connection to the Goblin Queen is interesting as is the fact that Maddie is now the ruler of Limbo. Hallow’s Eve is a tragic character who would support the one she loves no matter the dark path they are headed. This makes her dangerous to Spider-Man and all his friends as she, along with Ben, blames Peter for taking the life that Ben should have had.

“Do you have any idea on how offensive that is to vampire?”

The Marvel Legends Spider-Man Hallow’s Eve figure is in stores now. Check in-store and online for details.
