Review: Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S Series 2: Knight of Asperity – Chaos Agent

The evil Knights of Asperity roam the land in Series 2 of Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. from @BossFightStudio

One thing that is a staple in any modern fantasy series is the evil, mystical and/or undead knight or army of knights that plague our heroes. The Lord of the Rings had the Nazgûl; the Prydain Chronicles had the Horned King; and the Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones) have the White Walkers. Bossfight Studio’s evil army in their Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Series 2 are the Knights of Asperity; knights dressed in black, some bearing painted skulls on their faces and some with skulls for faces.

The work Asperity means harshness of tone or harshness of conditions. This is reflected in the actions and origins of these knights.

The file card on the back tell us that the Knight come from the Blasted Lands; a desolate area which surrounds Mount Olympus, tying this in with the Greek/Gorgon war from series 1. The Knights attack anyone and everyone, murdering most people in villages and taking those who survive back to the Blasted Lands for an unknown reason. They bring destruction, famine, pestilence and death everywhere they go.

Not someone to encounter after dark…

The figure, similar to Lord Vehemous, has sculpted on armour, with pieces like leg guards and shoulder pads being removable. The body type is shared with at least the Knight of Accord, the V-H.A.C.K.S. foot guard and the blank fantasy knight figures. He has all the standard articulation you find in this line. The head he has on is a while skull with some black shading. He has red dot for pupils in his eye sockets. The skull is nicely detailed, with accurate fissures on the skull where the different bones meet.

Figure comes with a lot of accessories

For accessories, he comes with a lot. In the tray with the figure, he has two helmets,; one with spikes and wings on the side; and a more plain helmet with an attachable visor (though I had a hard time getting it on.) It should be noted that care should be given when placing on the winged helmet. The spikes are a bit sharp and can hurt when pressing the helmet down on the figure’s head. Lastly, he has an alternate head. This head is human, with a skull design painted in red on his face.

Below this tray is another with his weapons. He gets a large axe, a shield with a dragon design, a sword and a scabbard for that sword. The scabbard has a peg that can fit in a hole on the figure’s belt. Alternatively , you can plug the scabbard in the hole in the figures back. It is not as secure but it does work. Of course he has a stand, which comes in a baggy with a set of alternate hands and leg guards that plug into the side of his legs.

The spikes are really pointy
Alternate human head

Overall, this is an excellent figures. The only issues I have is that the plain helmet’s visor was difficult to get on and make it stay on and it does not seem to fit either head well (it fits the skull head slightly better.) The spiked helmet is infinitely cooler so I will be displaying it with that one. The numerous accessoires and alternate head makes this figure great for army building (with either multiples of this figure or a blank knight body with one of the heads and maybe an accessory pack.). It is a great figure to have display on your shelf with similar figures.

The second helmet does not fit well on the human head. It is a little better on the skull one.
