Review: Fortnite Victory Royale Series Rippley

With the Fortnite license, Hasbro has a whole range of unique-looking characters to choose from. There are plenty of human-looking characters they could pick from, which would minimize the need for new tooling for figures, but Hasbro is not afraid to delve into the bizarre. With characters like Rippley, the Victory Royale Series showcases some of the stranger designs in Fortnite

The Rippley skin comes from Fortnite’s Chapter 2, Season 1 Battle Pass. He was unlockable at level 20 as part of the Rippley vs Sludge set. Rippley was featured in the opening cinematic for Chapter 2 as well. In-game it is said he is made from Slurp, the blue health potion in the game.

Rippley appears as he did in the game. He is a blue bubble-like being in black and gray overalls. His head consists of a light blue blob under a clear blue cover. His arms and body are made from clear blue plastic with the overalls covering most of the chest. His legs continue the overalls with it being mostly black with gray straps and designs.

The head is on a barbell joint going into the torso for articulation. You would have to remove the plastic done to pose it, though. The arms are on a ball and butterfly joint at the shoulders and have a good range of motion. There is an articulation cut just below the shoulders. The elbows are only single joints and the wrist can only rotate,., He does have a mid-torso crunch and waist swivel. The overlay is made so that it does not hinder the torso movement. The legs are on a t-joint at the crotch, with movement hindered a bit by the belt. The knees are double jointed, there is a boot cut for rotation and the ankles are hinged and can pivot.

For accessories, Rippley comes with his Sludgehammer harvesting tool. He has the Containment back bling for his set as well. His weapon carries the theme as it is a pump shotgun with the Rippley wrap design.

Rippley is a decent figure. Despite being a figure with many clear plastic parts, he seems to be a solidly made figure. My main issue with it is that the plastic dome on his head comes off too easily. They could have made the head one solid piece with the torso, though I have no idea how cost-prohibitive that would be. He looks good as is, though, and the accessories are good as always. We will see this mold soon when they release Sludge (a red Rippley) and we may even get a purple one down the road.
