Review: WWE Ultimate Edition Asuka

Wrestling continues to be a guilty pleasure of mine. I don’t watch the shows often, but I do watch the recaps of the episodes and PLEs for both AEW and WWE. I find the Women’s division the most interesting. In the last ten years, women’s wrestling has become more than cute girls in tights (NTTAWWT), but women wrestlers performing crazy moves and taking sick bumps. One of my favourites to watch is the WWE star, Asuka. So, when there is a figure of her, I try to pick it up. I was lucky enough to find her newest figure, which is part of the WWE Ultimate Edition line.

Asuka, real name Kanako Urai, is a Japanese wrestler currently signed to the WWE. She got her start in Japanese promotions like AtoZ, JWP Joshi Puroresu and NEO Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling. She joined the WWE in 2015, starting on NXT and then joining the main roster in 2017. She is currently on as one-half of the Women’s Tag champions with Kari Sane.

The figure captures Asuka’s look from 2023 after her heel turn. Her hair is blue and dark pink. She has her white and green face paint on and her mouth is in an open smile. She is wearing a black top with red, green and gold trim. Her tights are gold with black leggings. She has gold kneepads, gold kick pads and red, black and blue boots.

Entrance attire.

The articulation on the WWE Ultimate Edition line is better than the Elites. Her head is on a barbell joint and can freely turn, though there is not much tilt. She has butterfly shoulder joints with the arms on ball joints. She has a bicep swivel, double elbows, hinged hands and rotation at the wrists. She has a ball joint mid-torso and a waist swivel. She has drop-down hips, thigh swivels, double knees, rotation at the boots and hinged rocker ankles.

The Empress of Tomorrow!
She must have eaten a blue popsicle.

The WWE Ultimate Editions usually shine in their accessories and Asuka is no exception. She has her entrance attire, a multi-colour robe with faux fur on the shoulders. She also has her Oni mask that fits on her face. She does come with a spare head, that is pretty much the same as the other one, but her mouth and teeth are blue. This is a reference to one of her moves, where she sprays “Poison” mist from her mouth. She has two sets of hands; two open hands and two gripping ones.

Other Asuka figures I have
Next to Ultimate Editions of Ronda Rousey (L) and Alexa Bliss (R(

Asuka is a great addition to the Ultimate Edition line. This is a great figure and, hands down, the best Asuka figure so far. I’m glad that WWE and Mattel thought Asuka was popular enough for a deluxe figure. She joins a list of other female WWE wrestlers to get the Ultimate Treatment, such as Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and Ronda Rousey. I hope we get a new Kari Sane soon to go with Asuka (at least an Elite figure) so I can have the Kabuki Warriors/Damage Control on my shelf.
