Subscription Box Review: The Otaku Box

It is time for the April 2024 edition of the Otaku Box. Let’s dive right in and take a look!

What is the Otaku Box, you might ask? Well, it is a monthly subscription box that delivers third-party anime merchandise like in this box to your door. Options include adding a T-shirt and upgrading your figure from a mini to a 1/9 (or sometimes larger) scale figure. There is even an Ecchi option! I have been subscribed for three years now and I really like it. This is not a paid review, and I am giving my honest opinion on these items.

Like always, we start off with this month’s T-Shirt. This month, the art is from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba,. It features a black and white picture of Nekuzo with some green highlighting her mouth guard and in the background. It is a good shirt, suitable for wearing in public.

Next up is this string bag. It is red, featuring a picture of Yor from Spy X Family. It also has the text, “The Reason I Have unrealistic Expectations.” Yor is sexy and everything, but I would hope my waifu would know how to cook. Maybe that expectation is unreasonable.

Next, we get another coin. This time we get Nezuko. The coins are nice, but we need some sort of coin book for them all.

Next, we get an epoxy sticker, featuring Liz’s best girl, Rias. The sticker looks like a comic panel with speed lines and Rias in lingerie. She is saying, “What can I do for you, Master?” Next to that is this month’s VIP item, a button that says “Eat. Sleep. Anime, Repeat.” Throw in “take a shower once a day,” I’m in.

Now to the Ecchi items. First the Waifu Card. Number 52 features BB (Black Blossom) from Fate/Grand Order. BB is featured in her Summer outfit, but she seemed to have lost her bikini top under her shirt as well as her bottoms.

The wall Scroll is of Yuko Sagiri from the anime, Triage X. At 28, Yuko is already the head doctor at Mochizuki Hospital as well as a member of the vigilante group, Black Label. Her hair turns white when she fights with her katana. With her curves, she is both an angel of mercy and an angel of death.

Now for the full-sized prize figure. This month, it is the Lamia Maid, which is Miia from Monster Musume. Miia slithers her way into your heart, wearing a sexy maid outfit. This is a pretty hefty figure and stands on its own well. There are no cast-off parts this month, but I hear there will be with next month’s figure.

So, that’s this month’s Otaku Box. Itwas a decent box, though my enjoyment was overshadowed by some personal issues, Still, I love the Nezuko shirt and the Miia figure is great and will replace the smaller one in my display. Apparently, Liz is launching a Yaoi Box in May, and, while it is not my thing, I’m sure there are some who would like some husbandos. Check it out if that interests you.

Thank you for reading my Otaku Box review. If you want your own Otaku Box, orders for the next box close on the 7th of each month and ship out around the 24th. If you are interested, you can get it at www.theotakubox.com.
